IS YOUR VEHICLE BORING?
Does it look like half the other cars or trucks in the parking lot? Do you
sometimes insert your key into the wrong vehicle, thinking it's yours? Then
you need to do a little restyling. Or perhaps you've had to settle for a
vehicle that doesn't really reflect your personality. Don't worry. You can
transform any vehicle into a ride that makes a personal styling statement. It
just takes a few accessories.
If you'd like a quick fix, changing wheels and tires often has the biggest
impact of any single modification. Or, if your vehicle came with wheel covers
and you'd like to make a really economical change, you can swap on
different-style hubcaps.
You also may want to install a lift kit so you can fit bigger wheels and
tires under your SUV, pickup or van. Not only will this make your vehicle
look tough, it will provide increased ground clearance, which is really handy
for off-road adventures.
Or you may prefer to go the other way, dropping your vehicle closer to the
ground. Lowering a vehicle can improve handling characteristics and make
entry and exit easier--plus, it can get rid of what many folks consider an
unsightly gap between the wheel wells and the tires.
Another easy, dramatic change is adding window tinting.
For an elegant look, you might opt to gold-plate your emblems, swap your
plain grille insert for a sharp billet model or add a cabriolet or landau top
to your car.
Pinstriping also can add a flourish--or perhaps you'd like to make a bolder
statement with a graphics package. You can choose a complete custom paint
job, some nice painted stripes or a tape-on graphics treatment that provides
loads of flexibility. With tape, if you want to change your vehicle's look,
you can peel off one set of graphics and apply another.
You also can protect your paint and add some style at the same time by
covering your vehicle's nose with a bra. To continue the styling theme, you
can add a matching cover for a rear-mounted spare tire or matching covers for
your side mirrors. Or you can add a set of molded plastic mirror covers that
can be painted body color. Plus, a simple bug guard will add a bit of the
custom look while it protects your paint and keeps your windshield clear.
If you'd like to feel a little wind through your hair, you can add a sunroof
that opens at the touch of a button. Or you can avoid getting whipped by the
wind by installing a sunroof spoiler. And a set of wind deflectors will let
you open your windows without being buffeted by the breeze--or getting wet in
the rain.
You can even change the shape of your vehicle pretty easily with a variety of
body styling enhancements. Or you can give your truck, van or SUV a tough,
off-road-ready look with some body armor, which typically includes a grille
guard (also known as a brush guard or bull bar) and headlight and taillight
protectors. Plus, they sometimes echo the styling of roof and trunk lid rack
systems, which can give any vehicle a sportier appearance and provide more
utility.
Auxiliary lighting also will enhance the look of a vehicle and make driving
safer and easier. Or perhaps you'd like to give off a colored glow, in which
case a set of neon tubes under your vehicle or inside the engine compartment
is sure to get some attention.
If you just want to give your lights a new look, you can swap headlight and
taillight lenses--or add a set of headlight or taillight covers.
Subtle changes out back can make a difference, too. For instance, something
as simple as a custom license plate frame can make a statement about you or
your lifestyle--or complement other styling accessories. And custom exhaust
tips can make a styling--and sometimes even a sound--statement. Tips are
available in a wide variety of finishes and sizes, ranging from simple chrome
single or dual tips to enormous megaphone tailpipes.
A variety of bumper options also will give your vehicle a tough, rugged look
or contribute to its smooth, monochromatic styling.
And if you're driving a pickup, you've got even more choices for restyling
your bed.
No matter what you drive, you can choose accessories made from the same
material or the same color to give your vehicle a completely coordinated
look.
Then, once you've made some restyling moves on the exterior, you might want
to turn your attention inside. There, you can create a subtle personalized
look with wood or leather, or go wild with two-tone seats, entertainment
systems and billet accessories.
Another place you can add some style is under the hood, where you can
continue the exterior styling theme.
Of course, once you've got your vehicle looking just the way you like, it's
important to wash and wax it regularly, too. Plus, there are plenty of car
care products designed specifically to restore and replenish leather seats,
vinyl interiors, cloth, carpet, wheels and tires and much more.
Needless to say, the range of restyling options is almost endless, which
means no two vehicles ever have to look alike. Plus, if you're one of those
people who constantly changes hairstyles or rearranges the furniture at home,
you can keep on playing with the look of your vehicle as new options become
available and your tastes change. Who knows? You may even choose to buy
another vehicle so you can start again with a clean slate.
